2015 - UK Summer Trips & USA Wedding
The map (above) shows the area of our visit. Top is north. The river is the Delaware, flowing north to south. North-east of the river is the state of New Jersey (NJ) and south west of the river is the state of Pennsylvania (PA). The scale of the map - Doylestown to New Hope (on Route 202) is about 11 miles. Our hotel was 1 mile south of Doylestown. The wedding ceremony was on the banks of the Delaware at Washington Crossing (circled). This is where Washington crossed the Delaware at Christmas 1776 and a turning point in the American War of Independance. The wedding reception was at the Firehouse in Sergeantsville just a short walk from Alexa’s home and marked by the red star. We spent a week in the area. We visited Peddlars Village for a bit of shopping (green star) and visited the house that was rented for the Wedding party (yellow star). We also visited the towns of New Hope PA and Lambertsville NJ. Lambertsville is the other side of the river from New Hope. The weather was warm and sunny and we all had a wonderful time.

Our last day in USA and we drove into Jersey City to visit Brian and Alexa’s apartment. We then took the ferry across to Manhattan for a late lunch. It was the first visit to New York City for Jody, Sammy and Twins and also for Henry (above) with Geoff and Jen. (left) the evening Manhattan skyline as we returned. A quick beer in the Iron Monkey bar and it was time to head out to Newark for our flight home. A FANTASTIC but exhausting week!
